Copper press connection systems for gas and water

Situated on the Isle of Capri on Queensland’s Gold Coast, Australia, the Capri on Via Roma marketplace is renowned for its contemporary architecture and waterfront location.

Completed in late 2013, Capri on Via Roma houses over 50 retail and commercial tenancies (including an artisan bakery, restaurants, fresh food stores, a jeweller, a florist, and a 24/7 fitness centre), plus 250 car parking spaces - 175 of which are underground.

High performance and aesthetics

The gas and water pipework was to be installed in the basement and the underground parking space. An added challenge was the length of the pipes that would run and clash with other services so that the height and direction of the runs changed constantly. Ascertaining the most effective installation system was a major decision. The client also required all pipes to run parallel and be exposed and visible to visitors and tenants. Consequently, solution aesthetics was another key requirement. The plumbing and building contractors therefore elected to install the Viega Profipress system (Australian standard) for water and gas.

A wide range of Viega Profipress fittings was used in the project (from DN 15 to DN 65), as was a range of Viega Profipress G fittings for gas installation (from DN 25 to DN 50), including bends, tees, unions, adapters and joiners.
