Installation at Trios Southridge Hospital saves time and gains safety
Trios Southridge Hospital in Kennewick, Washington, USA, opened in July 2014. It is a 170,000-square-foot facility with three storeys in addition to a daylight basement, and it’s full of Viega system solutions.
David Brons of Apollo Mechanical Contractors was the General Foreman at the Trios Southridge Hospital project. Apollo Mechanical, the second largest contractor in Washington State, installed Viega’s Profipress system up to 4" for drinking water and hydronics as well as Viega Megapress G up to 2" (both US standard) for fuel oil and natural gas.
“I remember the first time I saw Viega’s press connection technology,” Brons said. “I immediately went searching for a stock option because I knew it was a moneymaker in our industry.”
Less work, more safety
Apollo Mechanical has been using Viega systems for many years, and Brons and his team appreciate the amount of time they save on the job. “We like the fact that the Viega systems are flameless,” Brons said, “avoiding all the challenges that come with having an open flame in a building. My team just loves the systems.”
Another important feature of Viega’s press fittings is the patented SC-Contur that allows installers to easily detect connections that have not been pressed: While unpressed, the SC-Contur allows liquids and air to pass the sealing element during pressure testing. ”Even if you do have a leak, it’s just a joint that got skipped. Then you just have to go back and pull the trigger and seal it up,” Brons said.
