Connections for the future
Geopress represents the reliable and cost-effective installation of piping underground thanks to the fast press connection technology. As a result of the further developed Geopress K and Geopress K gas systems, utility companies can now set up their networks sustainably in every respect.
Utility companies are currently facing a whole series of tasks to ensure a long-term, uninterrupted supply of water and energy to households and industry.
Avoiding water losses
Against the backdrop of climate change, these include, for example, a water supply that is as free of loss as possible: Over 400,000 miles of piping for drinking water supply traverse the ground throughout the United Kingdom. This is longer than the distance between the earth and the moon. Utility companies must continuously maintain this piping network.
With increasing aridity due to climate change, leakage should be prevented as much as possible for sustainability reasons.
Innovative Geopress systems as problem solvers
Geopress K for water pipelines and Geopress K gas for natural gas, liquid gas and hydrogen piping are press connector systems with plastic pipe press connectors made of fibre-glass reinforced polyamide. Compared to PE welding, this purely mechanical connection technology saves a lot of time: Complicated weather protection for precipitation is not necessary. No power generator is needed at the pipe trench for the welding machine either; the press machines from Viega are battery powered. It is not necessary to observe cooling times, as after welding, because press connections are immediately pressure-resistant. Plus it is easy to learn how to use press connection technology.
Geopress K for drinking water installations
The press connectors for drinking water pipes can be clearly identified by their blue clamping ring. The plastic pipe press connector contains a sealing element made of EPDM, a material corresponding to the elastomer guideline of the German Federal Environment Agency for materials in contact with drinking water. The Geopress K house connection system includes different press connector versions from d25 to d63 as well as tapping valves.
Geopress K gas for hydrogen as well
The bodies of the Geopress K gas press connectors are structurally identical and made of the same fiberglass reinforced polyamide as the Geopress K connectors for water. The sealing element makes the difference: For the transmission of natural gas and liquid gas according to DVGW G 260 as well as for hydrogen, an HNBR sealing element is used – identifiable by a yellow clamping ring.
The wide product range of Geopress K gas comprises press connectors, couplings and adapters from d32 to d63, tapping valves and suitable gas flow monitors.
